UK goes 24 Hours without using Coal for First Time since Industrial revolution

For the first time since the industrial revolution, the UK is about to go a full 24 hours without using Coal to generate electricity. According to a tweet from the UK national grid control room, today is likely to be the first day to achieve that milestone!

A significant reason for this is the implementation of solar PV, which has grown dramatically in the country and produced as much electricity “as much capacity at seven nuclear reactors
